This page explains how to delete your Taxr account, what data is removed, what we may need to retain, and how long the process takes. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

1. How to Request Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your Taxr account and associated data in either of the following ways:

1.1 In the App

  1. Open the Taxr app.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm the request.

1.2 By Email

Send an email to support@taxr.io from the email address associated with your Taxr account, with the subject line “Delete My Account”. We may ask you to verify ownership of the account before processing the request.

2. What Gets Deleted

When your account is deleted, we permanently erase:

  • Your account profile (email, name, authentication credentials).
  • All scanned receipts and invoices, including images and extracted data (vendor, ABN, date, total, GST, categories, notes).
  • Expense reports and export history tied to your account.
  • App usage data linked to your account identifier.

3. What We May Retain

We may retain a limited amount of information after deletion only where required:

  • Legal and tax obligations: minimal records (e.g. billing or transactional records) where we are legally required to keep them, for the period mandated by law.
  • Fraud prevention and security: information needed to detect, prevent, or respond to abuse or security incidents.
  • Anonymised/aggregated data: data that no longer identifies you may be retained for analytics and product improvement.

Retained data is access-restricted and not used to re-create your account.

4. Timeframe

  • Deletion requests are actioned within 30 days of receipt.
  • Backups containing your data are purged on our standard backup rotation, typically within 90 days.

5. Effects of Deletion

  • Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
  • You will lose access to all receipts, invoices, exports, and history stored in Taxr.
  • We recommend exporting your data from the app before requesting deletion.
  • If you have an active paid subscription, you remain responsible for cancelling it through the App Store or Google Play; deleting your Taxr account does not automatically cancel store-managed subscriptions.
